What Your Dashboard Warning Lights are Telling You

The warning lights on your dashboard are your car's way of communicating that there is a problem. But they cannot convey detailed information. It is up to you to understand what the warning lights mean. The most important lights to look out for are:

Check Engine
This light indicates that the engine computer has detected a problem. It will need to be diagnosed by a repair shop quickly.
Oil Pressure
This light tells the driver that the oil pressure is too low. Check the pressure and level of the oil immediately.
Coolant Temperature Warning
This light indicates that the engine is getting too hot. Check the coolant, fan operation, and radiator cap.
Battery
This light means that the battery is running out. Check the battery terminals.
